RHGNL Gallery

On December 5, 2005 members of the "Happy
Matters", Grand Falls-Windsor Branch of the RHGNL presented the Centennial
Committee of Grand Falls-Windsor, with a Wall Hanging commemorating the
Centennial Celebrations. Early in the year the group was contacted by the
committee to consider hooking an item with the centennial in mind. Plans
were put in place and a guild member, Renee Keel, came forward with a
design.
The center of the mat consists of Grand
Falls- Windsor crest and represents its people coming together to celebrate
the centennial. The trees at the bottom of the hanging signify the forest
from which the town arose: hence , the motto at the top on a blue
background. Using the traditional method of hooking on burlap with yarn, the
group passed the Wall Hanging from member to member over the past year
so everyone could have an opportunity to participate in this project.
Accepting the Guild's gift was Mr. Paul
Hennessey, Chairman of the Centennial Committee. Also present was
Barbara Smith, President of the Heritage Society.
Members who hooked on the project were:
Ina Budgell, Audrey Burke, Joyce Carrigan, Beulah Dobson, Sandra Dyke,
Angela Hanford, Renee Keel, Starlynn Shears-Osmond, June Oldford, Gwen
Thomas , and Annie Young.
