Travel

Some people coming to the wedding will be traveling to Newfoundland for the first time, so here are a few guidelines:

Air Travel

There are two airports close to Corner Brook:

Deer Lake (YDF), about 30 minutes away
Stephenville (YJT), about an hour away

There is not much service to Stephenville anymore, so Deer Lake airport is your best bet. There is little competition for air service, so prices are high and availability low, so book early if you plan to fly.

Note: St.John's airport is the biggest on the island, however it is an 8 hour drive from Corner Brook, so is probably not a great choice.

Ground Travel

Driving from the east: This means you are already on the island, so you probably don't need any further instructions.

Driving from the west: Not suprisingly, you will need to take a ferry to get to Newfoundland. This is by far the most complicated part of driving. The ferry leaves from North Sydney, Cape Breton and arrives in Port aux Basques, which is approximately 2.5 hours drive from Corner Brook.

Accomodations

Immediately adjacent to the reception site is Marble Villa, which has apartment style rooms with prices ranging from $150 - $225 per night. A block of rooms has been reserved for the wedding at discounted rates.

Marble Inn - Located across the street from the reception venue.
Greenwood Inn- An affordable hotel located in downtown Corner Brook.
Glynmill Inn - A traditional English Inn with a great pub.
Humber Valley Resort - A high end resort located not far from Marble Mountain that offers 'chalet' rentals.
Comfort Inn - Good for those who prefer a chain, it's a good choice that has a Jungle Jim's restaurant.
Mamateek Inn - Over looking Corner Brook, the Mamateek Inn is also conveniently located near the McDonald's with the best view in North America.
